The original pastel artwork “The Thorny Path. Koryaksky Volcano. Kamchatka” is a monumental plein air etude created in 2023 during a summer art expedition to Kamchatka. To capture this scene, the artist embarked on a long off-road journey to the foothills of the Koryaksky volcano, painting directly from nature to convey the raw beauty of this majestic landscape.

The composition depicts the base of the volcano with a trail leading upward, surrounded by a dry riverbed, scattered rocks, and earth tones in shades of brown, sandy beige, and deep red iron oxide. Gentle clouds and soft tonalism create an atmosphere of timeless wilderness and volcanic grandeur.

This etude is painted with soft pastels on premium Pastelcard 360 g/m², size 39.5 × 59.5 cm. The artwork is framed in an elegant wooden frame with a passe-partout and is fully ready to hang on the wall.
