The original pastel artwork “Roads of Kamchatka. Soft Pastel” was created en plein air in 2023 during a painting journey across Kamchatka. To reach this breathtaking place at the foothills of Vilyuchinsky volcano, the artist had to travel for hours by off-road vehicle through rugged mountain trails.

The composition captures the spirit of Kamchatka’s wilderness: a winding road stretches into the distance from the top of a hill, disappearing into the panorama of mountain ridges. Below, a shimmering lake reflects the light of the sky. On the roadside, three travelers are depicted — one pointing the way, another resting, and the third quietly observing the landscape. Rocky textures of the trail, sparse vegetation, and majestic mountains convey authenticity and presence, making the viewer feel part of the journey.

Painted in soft, earthy tones with delicate shades of green and stone, the etude conveys the serenity and grandeur of Kamchatka’s untouched nature.
