The original pastel sketch “Northern Spring. Flowers and Mosquitoes” (30×40 cm) was created in 2025 during a plein air trip across Yakutia as part of the major international art project “The Great Northern Expedition. The Arctic as Art.”

The painting captures the delicate beauty of a Yakutian spring meadow. Among the green grasses and willow bushes bloom fragile white anemones, while in the golden evening light tiny mosquitoes glimmer in the air like sparkling dots. This light and airy detail creates a fairytale-like atmosphere filled with both melancholy and quiet charm.

The work is executed in soft pastels on premium 360 g/m² Pastelcard, allowing the artist to convey subtle color transitions and the ethereal lightness of northern nature. The sketch breathes tranquility, reflecting the fragile poetry of Yakutia’s awakening spring.

✔ Medium: soft pastels on premium 360 g/m² pastel board
✔ Size: 30 × 40 cm
✔ Year: 2025
✔ Framing: unframed (the collector may choose a frame and mat to match their interior)

The painting is not varnished, preserving the unique “velvety” texture of dry pastels, also known as the “butterfly dust effect,” which gives the surface a living, breathing quality.

This artwork will become a refined accent in interiors styled in eco, minimalism, Scandinavian, or boho, bringing a sense of harmony, lightness, and spring renewal.
